Sonic The Hedgehog: The XBOX 360 Experience

For all the console freaks who have been playing Sonic the hedgehog games series over the past two decades, the release of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 series couldn't haven't come at a more opportune moment as the immortal game shoots age barriers enroute attracting generations after generations to the Sonic games series.

Sonic the hedgehog in the Xbox 360 series suffers the same drawbacks as most sequels while making the most of newer technology. Watching the older 2-D Sonic metamorphose into a 3-D sleeker form dashing through forests and deserts at breakneck speed while attempting the almost patented Sonic ball move is a treat to the eye. But the lack of newer ideas and simpler controls make the gameplay boring almost silly at times but the mind-blowing graphics keep one hooked on it for hours together. Newer tricks such as spinning kicks and spinning attacks are introduced while an extra life can be obtained if Sonic bounces and destroys several opponents at one go.

Many of the adventures in the game involve travelling through rough terrains with a variety of vehicles. In many a mission, Sonic moves from one terrain to another in a buggy armed with machine guns, a glider and a hovercraft to boot. The game itself is broke down to three different stories, the first one involving Sonic with the next two involving Shadow while the third part introduces a new hedgehog in Silver. Undoubtedly the silver part is the most interesting as the hedgehog gets a new ability of being able to pick up objects and fling them at his enemy. While Silver is a wee bit slower than Sonic, his extra air gain allows him to cover much larger distances. The advent of newer characters adds to the charm of the game while the slow load times and different camera angles almost spoil the entire party. Other collaborates such as Amy, Blaze and Rogue make brief cameo appearances in the game and while they aren't as interesting as the Sonic character itself, they do add to the charm of the game which is action packed and loaded.

Like many games that have a long history behind time, the latest edition of the Sonic games does indeed have its pros and cons. While the game play and camera angles could have been touched upon, the thrilling speed of combat along with state of the art graphics and technology make it enjoyable. The game is recommended and will provide hours of entertainment to the thousands of regular Sonic games fans who play via their consoles or free Sonic games websites online.
