Sonic Will Sleigh You
I'm on a chair behind three others in a line clutching a Wiimote to my chest and moving from side to side to steer a four man bobsleigh.
We're up there on screen. I'm Mario, the person in front of me is Sonic, Yoshi and Knuckles are up front. Crossing the line, we beat our previous best, and we all want another go. But there's more to try because this is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and Sega has flown Gadgits to Vancouver for an exclusive first test of the game. Alpine downhill skiing is next. Using the Wii balance board as skis and Wiimote and nunchuk as ski poles you race as close to the slalom gates as you dare, to go for gold. Following Mario and Sonic's Beijing Olympics which sold 10 million, this game, out in October 2009 should be more popular because winter sports work even better on the Wii.
Its brillant, fun party game. Imagine watching fellow family members shifting their bodyweight from side to side on the Wii board flying down the mountain.
We saw just three events but there are loads more in the pipeline. For example, I expect the luge and the skeleton to feature, using the Wii board as a tiny 'tea tray' sled to shoot down the track.
